New Coaxial light helicopter from Germany

Just Another new light helicopter concept from Germany.

Flip 1
Conventional rotor variant
with two tail rotor blades

Flip 2
Coaxial rotor variant
four blades on two
counter-rotating planes

  - Identical structure of the entire skeleton
(frame, landing gear, cabin partition)
 - different rear carrier and drive train
                  - ideally universal motor choice (Hirth, Rotax, E-motor, ...)

The two-seater ultra-light sports aircraft flip1 and flip2 belong to the class of ultralight (UL) with a max. Take-off weight of 450 kg and are intended for private pilots, pilot training, use in monitoring the police, fire and rescue (smaller bets or emergency transport), public transportation and agricultural aircraft.

While the flip one driven by a plane of the rotor and a tail rotor, convinced the flip 2 with its two counter rotating rotor levels, by 30% more power, 80% less noise, very quiet hover properties and a full engine power can be converted into the lift.

Both helicopters are constructed to an identical basic structure, only the tail boom and the drive train are different for these models.

Are driven ultralight sports aircraft with an optional engine by Hirth Model H-37, the company D-LF engine model 26 or the Rotax 912 UL, which is connected to the gearbox via a special coupling. The supporting frame is made from aircraft grade steel pipes and the cabin made of CFRP composite material. It has a control system, two seats with belts and an instrument panel with the necessary instrumentation. As a chassis skid landing gear is used.

The specially developed for our FLIP 1 & 2 blades consist of a complex layering techniques and also made of CFRP composite material. The carbon or glass fibers provide an extremely low weight and high stiffness and strength are preferably used in the aviation & aerospace. Our specially-designed blades thus have very high impact, bending and torsional stiffness, produce a good boost, enabling a cruising speed of up to 165 km / h can be replaced individually.

UL helicopter test program
The Luftsportgeräte office is launching a trial program for ultralight helicopter. The Federal Ministry of Transport, Building and Urban Affairs on 18 April 2013 given its approval for the new project of the Aero Club.

The company edm aerotec GmbH, Thuringia with their newly developed ultra-light helicopter "flip" is the partner of the LSG-B for the project. In the test program airworthiness requirement and training policies are developed and documented experiences for safe flight operations.

The Aero Club had put together with the German Ultralight Association's request to the Ministry, which has now been approved for both organizations.
